We like to think of Campaigns as online social etiquette which if used correctly will give others a reason to remember you. Perhaps the best analogy is when a colleague sends an email or text message thanking you for a job well done. Running campaigns effectively can have the same effect. They can make people feel warm and fuzzy inside, and will give them a good reason to engage with you in a meaningful way. But keep in mind that campaigns are not some quick fixing engagement elixir. *They need to be used intelligently and strategically in order to be effective.

How to setup and use campaigns?

It only takes a few minutes to activate a campaign. To get started, click “Campaign” on main dashboard. Once you do this all the default campaigns will start running.

The easiest way to configure a campaign from scratch, is to edit an existing campaign by clicking the ‘edit’ button. One of the most important things to consider is who you’re targeting. As you can see, you have several options including top engaged members; top new followers; recent retweeters; top leads and top influencers. You also have the option to send a private (DM) message to new followers. This can be an effective way to thank and engage a new follower.

In addition to deciding on who your campaign will target, you can set the campaign frequency. Some campaigns (for example directing top engaged members to your new blog post) you want to send weekly only. While others campaigns, like thanking top followers you may decide to send daily. It all depends on the specifics of your social media strategy, and what you hope to achieve.

Getting started with Commun.it campaigns

The key to an effective campaign is to customize the mention, or text you’re sending. If you’re using one of the Commun.it templates, we recommend you personalize the text. This can be done by clicking the ‘Edit’ button. It’s also a good idea to make sure the text sounds like you. Ask yourself whether that’s something you would say, and whether that’s how you would say it. Remember, authenticity is key. If you want people to engage meaningfully you need to be yourself.
