For most of us, social media is so deeply ingrained in our daily life that even one day without sharing, commenting or liking is enough to cause some nasty withdrawal symptoms. And perhaps that’s to be expected. After all social media has become a natural part of our daily routine much like flossing or brushing teeth. Think about it, do you remember the last time you went a whole day without browsing some social feed whether it’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram?

Don’t worry, we don’t either. We’re in the same boat with the 400 million Instagram users; 320 million Twitter users and 1.71 billion Facebook users who just can’t get enough. And that’s okay. Social media is addictive like fluffy cotton candy that makes you feels warm and fuzzy as its sugary strands melt every so gently on your tongue. But just because social media fills a need, doesn’t mean the experience has to be an overwhelming one.

We get that social media isn’t going anywhere. We wouldn’t want it to. What we’re suggesting is a better experience. A cleaner, ad-free opportunity to consume the content that interests you without the unnecessary overwhelm. Think cotton candy without the food coloring. Still good, right? Well – that’s what we’re offering with our new Streams feature.

A more efficient way to browse social media

The Streams feature breaks down your Twitter community into five different feeds: Home; New Followers; Influencers; Supporters and Engaged. Each feed features tweets from that particular segment. These feeds make browsing social media convenient and distraction-free, but also change the way you interact on social media.

A typical user logs into Twitter and interacts with what they see in the feed. This feed is made up of users you’re following and isn’t the best or most strategic way to grow your community. Commun.it’s feeds work a little differently. This places an emphasis on segments of your community other than the users you’re following. By focusing on these feeds, you’re broadening your reach and growing your community. For example, by paying attention to your Influencers feed you may get the attention of an Influencer who may end up following you.

How does Commun.it’s Streams feature work

To get started, simply click the Streams tab on the dashboard. You’ll then be presented with different feeds for each segment of your community. Simply click the feed to view the tweets from that segment.

The feeds make interacting with different segments of your community easy and intuitive. From the feeds you can follow/ unfollow a user; like their tweet; reply to the tweet and also retweet.
